Palmpre 2009 mode a launched

palmpre2009 model
We remember when the Palm Pilot was all the rage in Hong Kong. The essential gadget to show to everyone that you were organized and high-tech. And then one day they just disappeared.

Now Palm returns to the ring like Rocky Balboa, with their new mobile phone and OS with the Palm Pre, a touchscreen, slide-out mobile phone that may seem like a copy of the G1 and learnt tricks from the iPhone but does look to bring new things to the table and is more of a next-generation Treo, which many people loved.

We’ll have to see this for ourselves, but the coverage at Gizmodo does interest us to see more. Its good that Palm isn’t out yet, but will this be enough to bring them back somewhere near the top? A full 20-minute review playing with it is here and so far Gizmodo gives it a thumbs up.

Sonyericson T707

SONYERICSON T707
“The T707 is my ultimate new accessory. I am always on the go and I need a phone that is easy to use, and ofcourse chic as well,” said Maria Sharapova. Well, that’s exactly what this phone is. The slim and pretty Sony Ericsson T707 looks good while having some cool features that you could put into use.

The coolest feature of this phone, and of course Maria’s favorite, is the gesture control. You can control features like your alarm clock and music by simply waving your hand over the motion sensor in the front of the phone. And of course, if you get as many unwanted calls as Maria, you can always mute the call with a simple wave of your hand.

LG launches transformer phone..

To promote the next big movie, LG and DreamWorks partnered up and announced a limited Transformers edition of the LG Versa. The sequel to the original Transformers movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will be released June 25 in Hong Kong, and most other countries around the world.

This phone will be a special edition of the LG Versa touchscreen phone. Though the phone is not quite as transformable as those Transformers dudes, it’ll still be able to flip open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard for texting. Also, LG even plans to release addons to this phone, such gamepads for games, to add to the “transformability” of this phone.

We doubt it’ll have any new features except for the new skin in comparison to the original LG Versa, so we’ll show you the specs of the LG Versa:

* Network: 1900/800MHz CDMA/EV-DO
* Display: 3″ 480 x 240 Pixels, 262K Color TFT LCD, touchscreen; 120 x 56 pixels OLED external display
* Form Factor: Flip
* Camera: 2 mega-pixels, autofocus, flash
* Memory: microSD card slot
* Connectivity: Stereo Bluetooth, 2.5mm headset jack, USB
* Battery: 1100mAh Li-Ion, up to 290 minutes talk, up to 430 hours standby
* Misc: attachable QWERTY keyboard, HTML browsing, accelerometer

Unfortunately, this phone is currently only available in the U.S. from Verizon in the CDMA network. However, we do expect this phone to arrive in Hong Kong some time. We have no details as to the release date or pricing at this point, but what we could tell you is that the original LG Versa is US$200 on a 2-year contract from Verizon, which is not very cheap.

NOKIA AEON *LAUNCHED ON APRIL 1*

Nokia's research and development team have kicked it up a gear with an attractive "aeon" concept phone showing up in the R&D section of the company's website. The most prominent design feature of aeon is a touchscreen that stretches over the full surface area of the phone, similar to BenQ-Siemens's Black box concept phone we saw recently. Currently mobile technology isn't quite up to realizing this fantasy, but we'll sleep better tonight knowing that at least one of the cellphone industry's biggest names shares the same dream as we do -- BenQ's dream didn't count, unfortunately.

Sony ericson idou

Sony Ericsson sets the bar as it unveiled IDOU the first 12 Mega pixel Camera in the mobile phone market.

Sony Ericsson latest news on the market is that it has revealed a 12 MP mobile phone which will surely end the war for the highest megal pixel camera. The phone is going to be available in the market this summer. As soon as the prices for the phone are available, Pro-Pakistan would update this blog. Below is one of the articles showcasing all about the IDOU handset.

SONY ERICSSON stole the show and limelight from many rivals in the camera phone stakes by revealing it will be bringing a 12 megapixel handset out in the summer. The IDOU, as it will be known, is designed by the firm to be the one “entertainment device” you’re ever going to need.

As well as the touchscreen, it has a Xenon flash and access to all your videos and music with the tap of a finger. But while it looked nice on the showfloor, and is a natural extension to their Walkman brand, I’m very unsure about the merits of 12MP handsets. After all, most of us don’t even own a digital camera with that kind of technology and we’re unlikely ever to need it unless you want to print a picture the size of Big Ben.

For snapping shots on the move and on holiday, five megapixels is fine, and eight is even a little too much. Lenses on camera phones are still not perfect and the winning company will be the one that refines a 5MP gizmo perfectly with the best lens, shutter and flash you can find.

Idou will be part of the new Entertainment Unlimited family, an obvious competitor to Apple and its iPhone. But with Sony’s Cyber-shot brand so well-known, maybe they should have created the best mobile snapper on the market before moving up the megapixels in the race to be the first to announce they’ve cracked 12. It does look sexy though, of that there is no doubt!

iMATE ULTIMATE 9502

The i-mate 9502 is the bright 2.8-inch touchscreen that occupies most of the front panel. The generous 640x480 resolution means you can really enjoy multimedia content on this phone.Unlike its smaller sibling, the i-mate Ultimate 8502, the QWERTY keyboard on the 9502 is hidden underneath a sliding screen. While it's quite small, raised keys means typing is acceptable. In a similar manner to the iPhone, the 9502 automatically detects which way the phone is oriented and tips the screen accordingly.The inclusion of a stylus stops the screen getting covered in fingerprints, and in case you lose the stylus, the 9502 even comes with a spare. A handy button is placed at the bottom of the screen that provides a shortcut to the "soft" touchscreen keypad.

LG KG 920

The KG920 is one funny looking device, reminding me of a 1960s impression of a future walkie-talkie. The design is one of a kind, and you either like it or hate it. It is ironic that neither the front nor the back looks too much like a phone. The front looks like a lab machine full of buttons, and the back looks like a digital camera, with a manual lens cover, LED lamp, and Xenon flash. The device is definitely not the smallest around, but at the same time, it might not be as big as you think. In fact, it is just about the same size as the Nokia N73, and as heavy as a Sharp 903. The exact measurements are shown in the table to the right.The KG920 consists of two parts joined by a rotating hinge. The top part includes the screen on the front and the battery on the back, and the lower part houses the keypad on the front and camera module on the back. As opposed to the rotating Nikon cameras and the Nokia 3250, the lens is directly behind the keypad, instead of on the edge of the device. If you wish to take self-portraits, you can simply rotate the camera around 180 degrees. The screen and the camera will now be on the same face. If you are a keen photographer, the rotating mechanism also allows you to take pictures from a very low angle. I am happy to report that the hinge feels extremely solid, just like the rest of the phone. With the included Xenon flash, the KG920 is also great for party pictures.The front of KG920 is a mess of buttons. The three soft keys are placed on top of the numeric keypad, whereas the d-pad and cancel button are to the right, similar to the newer LG U400. Obviously, this arrangement is more favorable to right handed people. Considering the overall size of the phone, the buttons are quite small (number keys are 6mm x 3mm, or 0.24" x 0.12"). Thanks to the strong tactile feedback, the keypad may be acceptable if you have small fingers. The worrying part, however, is the paint on the handset - including both the body and the buttons. The pea-shaped softkeys are quite hard to press, and you might risk scratching off the paint if you use your fingernails. After a week of careful usage, I have managed to scratch the battery cover and the rim around the screen.The shutter button and volume keys are all kept on one side, leaving the miniSD slot, headset jack and power/data connector on the opposite side. Next to the 2" screen on the front are four more backlit buttons. Depending on what mode the phone is in, these are shortcut keys for the MP3 player, calendar, camera flash, timer settings, or digital zoom. The whole keypad is illuminated orange, and in dark settings, the light is even and more than sufficient.

imate ultimate
